![]() ![]() The set comes in Metric and SAE, as well as a long 0° offset version, giving you multiple options for a variety of tricky jobs. The 45-degree offset makes it easy to get into tricky places while completing the job with the least effort. Since ratchets and breaker bars add more height in addition to the socket, which is not good when you barely have enough space to move your hands, our angled offset extractor wrenches are a great replacement for twist sockets. Then, the depth of the socket might be too deep to even allow for a ratchet or breaker bar in such a tight space. ![]() With most twist sockets, you may first need a hammer to fit the socket into the fastener head. Using a twist socket will require working with a ratchet and some extra tools. Maybe you’re thinking of using a twist socket, but this might not be the best option. Accessing that bolt is hard enough as-is! To make the situation worse, it is a rusted and rounded-off bolt. Picture this: you have to remove a hard-to-reach bolt on the underside of your intake manifold. Imagine you’re working to finish a job on a tight timeline and have a slightly damaged bolt you need to undo: with an extractor socket you might further damage the bolt and waste precious time trying to source a replacement, but with Olsa Tools’ extractor wrench you may still be able to reuse the same fastener and reinstall it securely until a suitable replacement can be found. Unlike extractor sockets which only work to loosen a fastener, and typically cause further damage in the process our extractor wrenches are able to both tighten and loosen fasteners, even if they have some damage or rounding to them. On top of that, since the design is engineered to keep the load off the corners of fasteners, these extractor wrenches can actually be used in normal circumstances and prevent rounding of bolts, whereas extractor sockets can only be used once a fastener is damaged beyond repair. Not only does this help prevent further damage to the fastener, the tool can extract up to 85% rounded bolts and nuts. While turbo sockets have an internal thread design that can dig into 50% to 80% rounded-off bolt heads, the gripping power of the 6-point box end design in our bolt extractor wrenches puts the force almost directly on the middle of the bolt head flank. ![]() ![]() ![]() But still, finish Neo before you extend it. Their coders are working in the Ukraine under horrible conditions. I'm happy to see Luminar Neo is extensible, but I foresee a lot of paid updates in the future, which I think goes against the some of the original goals at Skylum. Luminar Neo will also be available in the Microsoft and Apple app stores. Additionally, Skylum customers with Luminar Neo subscriptions will get the Aurora HDR Merge extension for free. The release is scheduled for July 28, 2022, but Luminar owners can preorder HDR Merge now for a better price.Īurora HDR owners will get the opportunity to buy Luminar Neo with a loyalty discount and receive the HDR Merge extension for free. The HDR Merge extension preorder starts today on July 15. In the future, I'd love to see things like panorama assembly and photo enlargement features, all as part of the basic purchase. I would have liked to see this HDR extension sent to all owners of Aurora and Neo for free as an introduction to this advanced architecture. ![]() The Neo software, which was built to be easily extensible, is a good thing, but it will be tempting for Skylum to add new features this way, charging for every one of them. Skylum now is offering subscriptions to Neo, and that will send chills down the necks of some photographers who were never happy with Adobe subscriptions. The troubling knifing of products like the original Luminar and its replacement with Neo forced owners to buy again, even though there were significant discounts. It's sad to see Skylum worrying about HDR when Neo is still waiting for things like dodge and burn and cloning tools, things I use on almost every image, and while they were in the last version of Luminar, they are absent in Luminar Neo. Still, the addition of extensions seems like an excuse to grab more money in a product that has been struggling to finish all the features that were promised. There are also intelligent masking and powerful tools for portraits. For example, Luminar Neo has world-class sky replacement tools, which other companies are rushing to duplicate. I do use and like Skylum tools, and I think the Luminar series has been a great leap forward for photographers with the addition of AI tools that can speed up workflow. There was more flexibility than the HDR tools I had in Lightroom, but I thought a lot of HDR was overdone for my taste and a slowly lost interest in using HDR for landscapes. I was a user of Aurora some years ago and thought it did a nice job. Luminar Neo gives photo artists the power to achieve the best HDR photos and go beyond in their editing, all in one app. They can enhance with one slider, fix colors and toning, add glow, play with super contrast, add realistic sun rays or vivid foliage. After merging brackets, artists have a full arsenal of AI-based tools at their disposal. What’s unique about Luminar Neo’s HDR Merge is that it can be combined with Luminar Neo’s other tools to create spectacular photos. Artificial intelligence allows for the highest quality of bracket merging and a spectacular level of color enhancement. Plus, with the help of intelligent technologies, Luminar artists can create HDR images even from a single photo, with no brackets needed. Skylum claims Luminar Neo’s HDR Merge doesn’t produce halos or artifacts. That’s where HDR Merge can help, merging up to 10 images into one HDR photo. ![]() If your camera doesn’t have a high dynamic range, one technique to compensate for this is to take multiple exposure-bracketed images. It's discontinued now, so the timing is good for photographers who want to do HDR. Skylum offered their own HDR software for some years, called Aurora. It's still a big deal for real estate photographers, and landscape photographers still use it in extreme lighting conditions. Photographers have been bracketing photos for years, and its star has faded a bit over the years as cameras have offered increased dynamic range. ![]() ![]() The nimble new user-friendly design makes it effortless to load or change labels. Shadows and poorly lit areas make stall cleaning cumbersome and inhibit observation and care. Lighting is important for proper care and observation of stalled horses. Horses may try to jump over doors that are half height (such as a Dutch door) however, options are available that allow a horse to hang its head out yet discourage jumping. Position door latches out of reach of horses that may find pleasure in learning how to operate them. Door latches and other clasps that can be operated with one hand are an advantage at chore time. For example, door guides on sliding doors should be rounded and out of the traffic path. Full-length doors should have less than 3 inches of clearance under them to prevent the horse from getting a hoof or leg stuck.Īll doors and doorjambs need to be durable, with secure latches, and free of sharp edges or protrusions. They also need floor-level guides to keep the lower portion in place when the horse is pawing, leaning, or kicking at the door. Sliding doors, in addition to the overhead track, need a stop to prevent the door from opening too far and falling off the track. They also require less hardware to function properly, but heavy-duty hinges are needed to prevent sagging. Open swing doors decrease aisle workspace but may be latched open to alleviate this problem. Swing doors should open into the aisle rather than into the stall. Doors can cover the full length of the doorway opening, be divided into two panels (Dutch door), or partially cover half to three-quarters of the opening, which is more common with metal mesh doors. ![]() Doorsĭoors come in a wide variety of materials and configurations, although swinging and sliding doors are common (see Figure 1). In this case, the minimum height is the clearance to the lowest item on which a horse may strike its head, such as a light fixture or truss bottom chord. In fact, many stables have open truss or rafter construction with no ceiling. A low ceiling not only inhibits air circulation, but also increases the chance that a horse may strike its head. Horse barns are commonly built with a ceiling height of 10 to 12 feet with 8 feet being the minimum. These smaller doorway openings are adequate for horse and handler safety. These are the dimensions of the actual open area that the horse can pass through. Stall door manufacturers typically supply a doorway opening of slightly over 7 feet with a 42- to 45-inch width. An 8-foot-tall by 4-foot-wide stall doorway opening has been the recommendation for years although this is not often seen in stables. Partition height needs to be at least 7 1/2 feet to prevent horses from getting legs over the wall. A divider between two standard stalls may be removed to allow more space for a mare and foal or a stall-bound horse.Īn 8-foot-high stall partition is standard. The more time a horse spends in a stall or the more active it is, a larger stall size is justified. Generally, the stall wall length is 1 1/2 times the horse's length. Many stables are successful with stalls slightly smaller than this, but walls less than 10 feet in length are not recommended. A 12-foot x 12-foot stall is the standard recommendation for a 1,000-pound horse. Larger horses require more square footage than do smaller ponies to be able to turn around, lie down, and get up comfortably. The size of the horse and the amount of time the horse spends in the stall help determine stall size. You should adjust the dimensions for significantly larger stall occupants. ![]() This fact sheet provides an over- view of some basic stall features for a typical 1,000-pound horse. Many options that effect function and cost are available for horse stall features. No matter what your management style or needs, the basics of a safe horse stall are the same. ![]() ![]() Pruning should be limited to the removal of dead or broken branches. But, if they were overgrown last season, prune up to 1/3 of the plant before they leaf out to create a more compact, rounded shape. Panicle hydrangeas rarely need to be pruned. Annabelle is an example of a smooth hydrangea. Don’t be afraid to prune this variety aggressively. Older smooth hydrangea varieties can become floppy and unruly. Pruning should be done in late winter to early spring. They bloom on new wood, meaning buds are formed on new growth in the current season. Nikko Blue is an example of this type of hydrangea. The plant will produce strong new stems that will flower the next season. ![]() If they have become overgrown, remove up to ½ of the total stems by cutting them all the way to the ground. Pruning should be done during the summer. They bloom once per season in the early summer on old wood, meaning their buds are formed on last year’s growth. When more pruning is required, it is important to know the type of hydrangea you have to know the right time to prune.īigleaf, Mophead, French Hydrangeas. When it is time to prune back the dead ends, make your cuts at an angle just above the highest green bud. Pruning earlier, or pruning to the ground in the spring, will reduce or eliminate blooming this season. Wait until late April or even early May before pruning off the dead branches. It is common to have some branches die back after the winter in our area.īe patient, don’t get in a hurry to remove dead branches. The most common mistake with pruning is knowing when to prune back the winter-damaged branches. Occasionally you may need to prune for shape or size or remove some dead wood, but most seasons pruning can be skipped. The truth is most hydrangeas do not need to be pruned at all. Most gardeners feel uncertain and confused about when and how much to prune hydrangeas. Every season the hydrangea options get better and better. The plant was unique because it bloomed in the spring on last year’s growth, like a traditional old-fashioned hydrangea, and rebloomed on the new growth during the summer and into the fall.ĭirr immediately knew it was a game changer for hydrangeas and quickly coined the name ‘Endless Summer’. ![]() Then in 1998, Dirr was visiting Bailey’s test field where he found hydrangeas in full bloom…in September! Michael Dirr from the University of Georgia.ĭirr had been trying to develop a reblooming hydrangea for years with no success.
